I have finally got round to uploading my pattern for an Owly bookmark. As part of a Ravelry swap I had to send a handmade bookmark to the USA and this design came to me whilst pondering what to make. It is a very quick and simple knit. It is done in stocking stitch for the bookmark, starting at the bottom, with a selvedge. The cable owl is done last. Tassels are added using a crochet hook and the owl is finished by sewing on 2 small buttons for eyes. It will need to be blocked to ensure the bookmark lies flat.
I think owls make good bookmarks as they are wise creatures who must have done a lot of reading in their time. The name for this bookmark came from the Owly series of books by Andy Runton. Owly is a kindly little owl with great expressions and heartwarming stories. I love reading his books as they are cute and funny. This little bookmark is both wise and cute and will look after your page until you come back to read again.
